Arcediano´s Path
We start the walk from Puente Vieyu (Old Bridge) over Dobra river, before reaching Vis. We continue towards El Balagar to reach later a crossroad known as La Viga del Carro, from where a track leads us to the Carbes village. The track takes us towards Collau Sañin. After about one kilometre we continue the path along the road until San Roman, the highest village in the region. We reach a height from where we have a majestic view of the Amieva village to the south, the mountain range of the same name to the west, the Sebarga valleys to the north and part of the spectacular road to Puerto Ponton. When we cross the concrete path that leads to the Angon Portilla, where we branch off to the right, we start ascending gazing at the gorge hollowed out by river Dobra. We continue and cross the valley prairies of Sahugu and Toneyu. . In Toneyu there existed in ancient times a chapel a a refuge for wayfarers; today there are huts with remarkable arquitecture; stones belonging to the XIX century chapel and refuge were used for some of these huts. We find later a key spot Portilla de Beza. If we cross this porthole we´ll enter Leonese territory. We start then descending towards Pandemones prairie, continue down a zig-zag track until Valdelosciegos; a km away we find Soto de Sajambre.-Index-Map

Jocica´s Path
We Start this route in Amieva village; we can watch tipical constructions called horreos as we cross the village.
We then turn to the right along a track that leads us to the electric station of Restañu. We appreciate in this drive one of the most spectacular valleys in this region: Valle de Angon. We leave our vehicules at the station and start the walk. Beyond this point we enter Picos de Europa National Park. We can differenciate two sections: one stretches from the electric station to the Jocica dam. The first place of great interest is the Ceremal prairie, a green plain we reach after crossing a stone bridge. If we continue and pass the second bridge we get to Ceremal. The walk continues through a forest of beech and holly trees.
We´ll continue up the Bellanzo prairie , where the slope gentles, and we find a fountain and a sheperd´s hut.
We get later to the dam, situated next to some ruined brick buildings. - The second section streches from the dam to Carombo valley, along a narrow track over Dobra river, which is always on the right and leads us to the Carombo prairies.-Index-Map

Camín de la Reina “Queen´s Way”
We start in Arriondas. This walk goes along the left bank of Sella river and getting into Amieva in the Puente Dobra area. Keeping on the left bank we enter Riega de Cubila; we continue by Caserio de Matagües, that ledas us into Pervis village. We cross Pervis towards the Coviella prairie.
We get to the medieval bridge of Los Grazos walking along Les Barandilles path, and after a while we approach La Meruya, where The Salmon Museum is located. We can appreciate here the Dobra and the Sella basins. If we continue walking we end this path, cross C-261 road, and get to Trambesagües recreational area, a little forest of oak trees.
In this area there are some display panels about the reproductive cycle of salmon, helping us to be a bit more aware of our rivers and life hidden in them. Crossing this area we get to Precendi, where we find Amieva Town Council. We walk along a plain path by river sella bank and we get to an area known as Les Vegues; from there we start a slight and most beautiful climb up river Carmeneru that will take us to the country house of the same name, and to the end of this path: Argolivio village.-Index-Map

Ordiales Viewpiont
From the parking lot at Los Lagos, we start walking along a path towards El Aleman pond. We continue a track to Vega La Piedra prairie, and before reaching it we find a fountain.

Valdepino´s climb

Pico Valdepino is located at the western side of Cornion, at the banks of Sella river, and although it is not a high summit it´s a great viewpoint to the highest area of the massif and most part of the cantabric hill range. The starting point is Angon height, located arround 4 km. Hawai from Amieva through a narrow track.

We can park on the right side at this height, where the rubbish bins are. Two paths start from this parking site. The one on the left is Arcediano´s path; we must take the one on the right. It is a flan track that borders the hill at our left, called Cabeza La Texa. We walk beside some huts while gazing Amieva village and the prairies that surround it. This track ende up at a gate we cannot trespass. We get a parallel track about 10 metres up that continues arround Cabeza La Texa and goes downwards after a while.

Here we must focus our attention on a tight height at our left; It´s La Forcada and we get there following the best path that crosses this small channel Once at La Forcada a wide area opens in front of us with Pandiello river at the bottom end. This river collects the waters from Piriañes and Gustavieju´s streams fron the two valleys in front of us. We must then follow the path that runs through the valley at our right; continue on the left at mid hillside to cross Pandiello river and then find the far end of this valley. A deep track in this area helps our walk. In a little while we arrive to Gustaviegu prairie, where we can only distinguís a little hut.

The paths from this point only go up the valley, but we will follow the ones on the left asthey are easier. The valley opens before us as we ascend and we have to cross an area of rocks at mid height that can make the walk a bit harder. On the highest part we will try to walk on the right side of the valley in order to reach a height without trees, tipical of this part. From this point we can see Pico Valdepino and the way is now unmistakable. We continue along Gustalcuendi prairie to situate ourselves at the lowest part of the channel that goes through Pico Valdepino on this side.

The distance that separates us from the summit just goes along this channel until its end following the track we consider easier; we get to a first summit, called Peña del Texedal, which is just a “pre-summit” of Valdepino. We then follow the ridge to get to this fabulous viewpoint. We must enjoy then the view of this marvellous mountain.
We get the same way down until the deep end of the channel, that leaves us in the surroundings of Gustalcuendi prairie. At this point we follow east course towards Cuetu Prau. This part goes along a flat zone and in case we find fog it can be problematic. The purpose here is to descend to Arcediano´s Path, and for that we´ll leave Cuetu Prau at our right and go through Trasbustiello beech forest, always going east until we cross the path next to Cortegueros stream. The walk from there is easy and goes along an old road between Sajambre and Amieva. Before reaching Angon height we find Pandiella and Gelmeda fountains, where we can fill our bottles. The views of Angon here are very beautiful, and the descending track leads us to our car, finishing this excursion of about 7,5 hours. (Text: Nesi Redondo)--Index-Map
